Day 1: Lanzhou – Zhangye. Morning high-speed train to Zhangye. Afternoon at the Zhangye Danxia National Geopark — the Rainbow Mountains, ribbons of crimson, ochre and gold folding across the hills. Boardwalk viewpoints and sunset light are the payoff. Overnight Zhangye city.
Day 2: Giant Buddha Temple – Lanzhou. Morning visit to the Western Xia-era Giant Buddha Temple (China’s largest indoor reclining Buddha), stroll the Wetland Park, then train back to Lanzhou with drop-off at your hotel or station.
