Dunhuang Airport (DNH) has flights from Xi’an, Chengdu and Lanzhou; overnight trains link it with Jiayuguan and Lanzhou on the classic Silk Road rail run. In town, taxis or a private car connect the caves, dunes and desert gates (all ~10–70 km out).
