April–May and October–November are mild. Chongqing is one of China’s “furnace cities”: July–August is very hot and humid, and winters are damp with river fog. Avoid 1–7 October.

Getting there & around
Jiangbei Airport (CKG) is ~40 min to downtown by metro. High-speed rail: Chengdu ~1h, Wuhan ~4h. In-town the metro climbs buildings, Liziba station famously runs through an apartment block, and the Yangtze cable car crosses the river. Expect hills and stairs.

충칭 jiugongge nine-grid beef-tallow hotpot (bold and numbing), xiaomian noodles, mao cai and riverside grilled fish — spicier and saltier than Chengdu.
