Huangshan — the Yellow Mountain — is China’s most painted landscape: granite spires, twisted Welcoming Pines and, on lucky mornings, a rolling sea of clouds. Pair it with the white-walled Huizhou villages at its foot.
“Sunrise above a sea of cloud, pines leaning off granite, cable cars doing the climbing for you.”
2 days in Huangshan
The same sights, spread over 2 days rather than one; Apr–May & Sep–Nov is the friendliest window; room for a day trip and one unplanned afternoon.

Best time to visit
April–May (flowers, cloud seas) and September–November (clear, cool) are best. Summer is green but rainy and crowded; winter is quiet with snow and superlative sunrises.

- 2 giorni — sunrise and sunset from the summit (stay overnight on the mountain).
- 3 giorni — add a day of Hongcun & Xidi villages and Tunxi old street.

What to eat
Huizhou cooking: stinky mandarin fish, hairy tofu, bamboo-forest shoots and stone cake, washed down with Taiping Houkui or Huangshan Maofeng tea.
Domande frequenti
- How many days do you need for Huangshan? — Two days on the mountain (to catch sunset and sunrise from summit hotels) plus a day for the Hongcun and Xidi villages is the classic three-day plan.
- Is climbing Huangshan hard? — You can cable-car most of the way up, but expect steps and ridges between peaks. Stay on the summit overnight and it’s very doable with moderate fitness.
- Qual è il periodo migliore per vedere il ‘mare di nuvole’? — After rain in spring (April–May) and in autumn (September–November); winter gives snow, fewer people and brilliant sunrises, though some cable cars may close.
